I can't believe we are in week 3 already. everyone is so settled and playing and learning beautifully.
Unfortunately I have been poorly this week (as have many of Puffin and Kingfisher class) but I have spoken to Louise and Miss Turner and our little Puffins have been perfect!
Puffins have started to learn their first single sounds (phonemes) s, a, t, p and i. They have learnt to recognise the sound by sight, it's written form (grapheme) they have learnt the Jolly Phonics action that goes with this and they have practised forming these letters. They have also been introduced to the tricky words (I & the) I will go through all of this and much more when I see you at our meeting at 2.30 on Monday 27th September (on the playground-please bring a chair). In maths, the children have been looking at recognising amounts to 5 by sight. The children have also been busy sorting objects, a great way to understand numbers which will support your child's understanding of number patterns and much more as the year progresses.
We have started our RE lessons and we have spent some time introducing 'God' and what we know and what we are going to learn over Autumn 1.
Our Pufflings (preschool children) have also been busy learning through play, they've been on a listening walk and done lots of counting through songs and games. They also enjoyed visiting our school library and along with the Puffins, chosen a new book for our classes book corner.
PE, yoga and Forest School has been enjoyed by all and everyone seems to be thoroughly enjoying being so active.
I can't wait to see the children next week, I've really missed them and I look forward to meeting you at the Phonics meeting on Monday. Have a great weekend :)
