Holidays are here!

From Christingle art to carol singing outside at Hickling House and a campfire at forest school followed by a yummy Christmas lunch.  Christmas is most definitely here!    

Countdown to Christmas!

This week Puffins have looked at the 'ar' sound as well as getting to grips with capital letters.  In Maths they have continued exploring numbers.  They have been super in rehearsals for our Nativity next week and even came down to the church on a muddy, wet walk to practice too.

Pufflings have continued to count out objects and toys, matching the amount to the correct numeral.  They have enjoyed listening to and making animal sounds to match to the correct animal.  Lots of fun! 

As a class we have finished our class tree for the Catfield Tree Festival and we have made our very own piece of Christmas Tree art for the competition.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.......

This week we moved into DECEMBER! Which can only mean one thing...The Christmas decorations are up, lots of Christmas crafts and singing is happening... in between all the learning.

In Phonics Puffins have been consolidating all the digraphs (two letters that represent one sound eg sh, ch, oa) that they have learnt. We have also been looking at spelling the tricky words the and I.

Pufflings have been hiding instruments, playing them to their friends and seeing if they can recognise which instrument is being played. They have also been practising saying and hearing the f, s and sh sounds in words.

In Maths, Puffins have been looking at the numbers 5 and using multi link to make different shapes. We then used the multi link to think about number bonds for 5 eg 4  + 1 = 5, 2 + 3 = 5. 0 + 5 = 5 etc.

Pufflings have been concentrating on number recognition and matching numbers 1-6 to the same amount of objects. 

In Topic we have finished our book 'The Gruffalo' and we spent some time thinking about how we could describe the Gruffalo. We thought about his appearance and his personality. We worked together, using the phonics we have learnt, to write lots of adjectives.

We have put our class tree and school tree up and been busy making decorations for them and also for Catfield Tree competition.

Wednesday workshop involved Christmas cards, Christmas decorations, Christmas biscuits and hot chocolate. We all had a fabulous time.

The children thoroughly enjoyed well being where they tried different types of milk and yoga was a great way of relaxing after a busy week.
